How did you initially find the apprenticeship?
I was looking across all kinds of websites and came across Gov UK and came across a service engineer role at Grant Handling forklifts which really appealed to me.
What made you want to do in an apprenticeship in the materials handling industry?
I want to do mechanical work I thought this would be the best opportunity for me. I wanted to work with forklifts as they are versatile. They allow me to work on mechanical electrical and hydraulics.
What have you learnt or achieved so far?
I’ve gained a lot of understanding around how electrical and mechanical components work and knowing my way around the tools.
Would you recommend the scheme to someone else and why?
I would because it’s very good for general knowledge or electrical knowledge and you can take it into many different places.
What’s your main motivation to go into this kind of work?
My main motivation is coming in and understanding how forklifts work, what they are used for, how to repair them and service.
What have you enjoyed doing the most so far on your journey as an apprentice?
Getting my hands dirty and just getting out there and repairing trucks.
